6th submarine of type 206A (reconstructed version of type 206, originally 18 vessels, also see >U 30<) - modernized at Howaldtswerke, Federal Republic of Germany. At the date the photos were shot this submarine belonged to the 1st submarine squadron in >Eckernfoerde<. (displacement submerged: 520 ts / speed submerged: 17,0 ts) - main armament: 8x 533-mm bow torpedo tubes (8 DM-2A3 Seehecht torpedoes or 16 mines), 24 mines. On March 31st 2011 the submarine was decommissioned and since then is used as spare parts for Columbia. |
