Additional Information |
4th ship of a series of identically constructed dry cargo ships of type "Tille Trader 3300" (7 vessels), also see >Fri River< - IMO 9224104, >Flinterhunze<, >Fri Sea<, >Scot Mariner<, (>Scot Isles< - IMO 9243930, >Scot Bay<) and >Scot Venture< - according to Equasis.org: total loss (status of October 24th 2023) - on October 24th 2023 at 5 a.m., approximately 12 nautical miles southwest of the island of Helgoland and 17 nautical miles northeast of the island of Langeoog in the German Bight, the bulk carrier >Polesie< (IMO 9488097, also see there), en route from Hamburg to A Coruña, Spain with 22 people on board, was in collision with the >Verity< with 7 people on board, en route from Bremen to Immingham, UK. The >Verity< sank as a result of the collision. Numerous ships as well as divers were involved in the search for crew members, but only 2 crew members could be rescued alive. During the course of 2024, the cargo was salvaged and the wreck was sawn into two parts. On September 4th 2024, the bow section was salvaged after the stern section had already been raised a few days earlier. The wreck was then towed on a pontoon to the Netherlands for scrapping. |
